sorry the Prince was right but the writer's conclusion is hogwash. If things would be so simple we would live in wonderland.

IMHO the US was misled by a group of Iraqis who fled Iraq and were living overseas. What the US and the UK missed is/was that the credibility of those groups was very low even that they learned OUR ways of dealing ,........ arabs and their mentality does not change just because they learned at Oxford or Princeton and are very articulate in our tongue.

The concept was right but the players were wrong. At the end the clowns will realize that they will need to get down to business the same way that Ata Turk transformed Turkey into a democratic entity from an Ottoman Empire.

All Iraq need is a real leader like in Turkey and hopefully one would emerge.

As to the US and UK there was not a hell a lot of choices after the failure in Iran, 1991 invasion of Kuwait the war in Afghanistan and the rise of the Taliban and AL Queda which started hostilities against the US way before 9/11.

Blaming this administration for mistakes of US policy since Vietnam is childish. For one or other reason since WWII the US was supporting the wrong tyrants from South & Central America to Eastern Europe and Asia.

Why the hell the US supported Ceausescu in Romania is beyond me

In general terms I would trace the problem the mid 70' and more so regarding fundamental islam / Al Queda movement to the Clinton administration which did not recognize the spread of fundamental islam into Chechnia and Caucasus to the Caspian sea or into the Balkans.

Yugoslavia had a tyrant who blurred the situation in the Balkans and as a result Islamic fundamentalist slipped into the Balkans same with the northern flank of the envisioned “UMA and Caliphate” Same ignorance from the Clinton administration happen in Kashmir, Philippines and Indonesia. The sorry state of the situation was clearly reflected in Mahahtir
(spl? )speech few weeks ago in Malaysia.

Economic or social failure should not be blamed on others but on their own

as to this administration oh well they do not know what hit them and I also do not blame them the situation IS very bad just read Sayyd Qutb ........ and it started as early as Abdul Nasser took power in Egypt
