I have to admit I don't know what the significance is of .90nm, or 130nm, or 200mm wafers or 300mm process or .13 process.

But this .90nm delay reporting has all of the AMD posters in a tizzy, they say it was a misquote or something, since AMD showed off .90 at comdex. Well, actually they say that the delay was reported months ago, and when asked about it at the Dresden launch, Hector said, "we have delayed our process"- which the press took to mean ANOTHER delay. I really don't know.

But my understanding is that with the current fab online AMD can produce up to 3.5 million AMD 64 chips per month. The way I see it that is plenty until probably 2005, considering that Dell sells about 6.5 mm CPUs per quarter, and that includes low end, high end, servers and laptops. SO AMD is ok with their manufacturing as I see it. Of course things could be better but they are ok now.
