ild > comments on RSA Rand. Where is the fair value?

What a question? You may as well ask what is fair value for the USD or the Euro or the Yen or gold. Your guess is as good as anyone's.

All I can say is no-one I know expected the rand to be as strong as it is. Export businesses, including the mines, are on their knees to the Minister of Finance pleading with him to stop its rise but without avail. Every day the rand gets stronger, not only against the USD, but also against the Euro, the Yen, the AUD, the CAD, Sterling, everything. And why? No-one knows.

Business is being smashed, the mines are in trouble --- and no-one knows why.

Meanwhile the rand gets stronger ...........
