so in other words you see customers going to Dell and getting an Itanium running SuSE. Come on! Who would want that? The only people who want Itanium are the all-intel shops and those are more than likely big Windows houses.

There are a lot of reasons why Dell won't want to go to another hardware vendor but I guarantee you there is some internal debate going on over there as to whether to do it anyway. Their old rival Gateway who is a marginal player is going Opteron soon.

The day Dell becomes credible pushing Linux is the day you should sell your MSFT stock -- if not sooner.
