Dean has the left-wing yuppies. I'm friends with a few Dean supporters. They're all pacifist types. One of them is lesbian leader, though I just know her from business. They're all successful but they're quite a bit to the left of the mainstream. Most people I know either support Kerry or are undecided. Some are flirting with Clark. Republicans I know either are uneasy about Bush or will vote for the Democrat this time, so long as he isn't too liberal. Dean is too liberal.

I am hardly far left (don't take Prolife's word for it though ;-) ). I still support Dean's candidacy. And it has nothing to do with his stand against the war.
I was originally in favor of war that was to have been prosecuted properly along with the support of allies. Not an half assed attempt and that too after pissing off the closest of the friends.
What has impressed me about Dean has been is his record, his passion, the way he has campaigned (lot of grass root level support) and a judgement that he will serve in the interest of people rather than special interest groups. Support from unions, however dilutes the argument a bit, but that is essential to win the nomination - so I will give him a pass on that one.
