"think you are going Utopian" A bit of that too I guess. But you libertarian types need not to get to immersed in Randian theoretical arguments and survival of the fittest. By giving needy hard working folks a helping hand in and of itself is NOT a bad thing. Institutionalizing it or over-bureacratizing it doesn't have to be an inevitability although recent history supports your take more than it does mine. I go back to TVA, Marshall Plan and Space program as things that worked and the US Military as something that is successful, albeit not perfect in the $200 hammer sense. All i am saying is that this generation has a responsibility to help the next succeed in a nation with an expanding, not contracting middle class. Mike
