remember the "Weathermen" from the 60s. Vietnam days all over again, and for the same reasons - gov't out of control. In that case, and this, the counter-attacks resulted in suppressing dissent, since that dissent was falsely associated with violence. The news items you mention are the first step. Here's the next step, the statement we can expect from Ashcroft, changing "SDS" to "terrorists": "If [SDS] or any group was organized on a national basis to subvert our society, then I think Congress should pass laws to suppress that activity.
