Clean coal? I think the technology available today provides good emissions reductions. How about taking some actions to force the old grandfathered coal plants offline and replacing them with bigger cleaner more efficient coal plants with existing technology. We have plenty of good technology available today, its just not being deployed much as few want to invest in a new coal plant.

i like it, but the environmental groups would try to block it at every legal turn. maybe paul kasriel is right, and we should just let the price of energy do the heavy lifting. maybe the prices will go up, and maybe they will go down. planning business will be difficult. at some point soon the logjam in congress has to be decided by voters. i believe in technical analysis of the congress too, i.e., the longer a trading range (logjam) is in effect the more violent the move up or down will be when the breakout (change in congress's makeup) comes. perhaps some big news event will trigger the breakout, but the breakout is going to happen i think.
