It sounds like Sharon is considering a proposal that Sharansky (I think it was Sharansky) made recently - remove the settlers from some of the untenable Gaza outposts, and replace them with a garrison, to send the message to the Palestinians 'you will get this back when there is peace, in the meantime, you're getting nothing except more Israeli soldiers in your face'. Israel has few moves available in the current impasse; the Pals will do nothing till Arafat croaks. Interesting idea. I'm not sure what will come of it, even if Sharon doesn't have to back down in the face of a right-wing revolt.
