Searle, <I'm surprised that you have such confidence in government to expect...>

Oh, i have NO confidence in government to do anything. Anyone who has that confidence should work in government for awhile and be enlightened on this matter, as i have. (g)

i was thinking more along the lines of 'If the unemployed and disenfranchised want to survive they will have to wake up to the reality of the situation'. Or in other words, become aware of the need to, in some cases, reject the gospel of 'free trade' and compel a little protection (via their retail dollar 'votes'). Maybe reject Walmart's low prices?

<What a loss to the world the burning of the library at Alexandria was>

i do not know what this is about. My first inclination was to ask you to explain...but then i realized i could just google up an answer for myself - which would, of course, deny you the pleasure of enlightening me. hmmmm, that constant paradox, for everything we gain, we also lose...

<Amazon's library coming...must surely be one of the wonders of the modern age.>

Yes! But like the Amish, should we get into the habit of asking ourselves, 'how will this technology impact our community?'
