Iso's rule #1. Stocks, sectors or broad market indices usually move either up or down in anticipation of bullish or bearish news. Smart trading money sells after the news is released, digested AND...

the crowd of average investors has driven the stock or market as far as it will go.

Just another practical application on contrarian thinking.
