Most certainly not... <g> My experiences in Canada are quite limited but very favorable. When I was a young lad of maybe 5 years old, my father's aunt took me to see relatives in Toronto. Roughly a stay of about a month or so. We got to go to their summer cottage (in Barrie??? if I remember correctly). I have vague memories of playing with some Canadian children of my own age. Swinging on some homemade rope swings hung from some sturdy tree limbs. A dog named Corky with a big wet pink nose. Canadian chocolates and Canadian hot chocolate and Canadian biscuits (cookies). The weather was a bit crisp for summer, more like late autumn in New Jersey where I grew up. All in all, it's a very fond childhood memory. I can even remember being on the overnight train from Newark to Toronto and home again. In the early 1980's, I had a 6 week business trip to Rochester, NY and while there, got to visit Niagara Falls. Lovely light show, with music played out upon the falls. Ate two really good meals (lunch and dinner) in the vicinity. Took the tour of the falls and got drenched somewhere on the tour. But, had a marvelous time and met some lovely people from Canada and Scotland. And just a couple of years ago, my wife and I took an Alaskan cruise that originated in Vancouver, BC. We took some extra days at the beginning to spend some time in and around Vancouver. Had some great meals there. Took in Victoria Island, which I highly recommend as a destination visit in and of itself. The gardens there were lovely, and in the town there was a North American Native Museum that was fascinating. I could have spent many more hours there than what we actually got. We also did the Vancouver tour, the Victorian homes and all of that. A lovely start to a lovely cruise. The only sour note was the Canadian twit at the airport where we had to report our luggage missing. We knew it was missing before we landed. We saw them take it off the plane in Denver. But a passenger cannot argue with a flight attendant, even though we told them that the luggage they were removing was ours. (We were told that from a plane window, all the luggage looks alike. Right!) Anyway, after about a 9 hour delay, our luggage finally arrived. But the twit in the airport who was trying to be sympathetic came close to having me strangle him. First time I ever felt that way. Probably has more to do with United Airlines than Canada, but... <g> Oh, we no longer fly United Airlines by the way. Some small measure of satisfaction in that decision... By and large Canadians more fit the "cute and cuddly" label rather than being "wusses". At least that's my point of view... <vbg> KJC
