Ford supports national health care plan Heard on NPR this morning that Ford is supporting a national health care plan -- i found no link so far. It's a matter of competitiveness, Ford says. All their competitors from Japan and Europe have national health care plans in their home countries and are not burdened directly with costs for health care benefits for their workers and retirees. National health care in the US will start getting a big boost from big business, of all places. No wonder, given that health care costs, especially for industrial, unionized firms, are rising fast and are starting to dwarf their other costs, hitting heavily profits.
