OT -- feel less good about Nomar for prospects. all we had to give up for Schilling was the functional equivalent of a bucket of balls; Fossum and Lyon don't project to be any better than a #3 starter, dela Rosa has upside but is young, and Goss is nothing. i was thinking we could get Edwin Jackson and another A-level prospect from LA for Nomar, but that seems less likely after this deal, as it seems like guys with only one year left on an expensive contract aren't worth giving up a lot for. we'll see though. of course, at this point the only reason to get said prospects (since we don't need them for the staff) is to find some way to turn them into Dereck Lee (1B Marlins). and its not like the Marlins are short on pitching, so you would need a 4th team with some positional prospects but short on young pitching (Phillies; Padres). i think Manny / ARod might still happen, but frankly if we get Schilling and Foulke i will be quite pleased with the off-season.
