Room - I sold about 20% of my INTC position and used most of the proceeds to buy AMD calls and LEAPS, and a much smaller position in SUNW LEAPs, back in September. I took a few of the near term AMD calls off the table two weeks ago and used the proceeds to buy a small NOVL position. The AMD play is obviously going well, NOVL looking decent. The SUNW has not paid out yet, but I was not expecting anything until their position becomes more clear.

They could either do a few things right in execution, which I think would do a lot for the stock price, or they could continue to fumble around and not put out a clear message, in which case that SUNW position will be money down the drain.

I don't think I would recommend SUNW to anyone yet, but I'm following my gut and a few rumors, which the Opteron announcement helped bear out, on where they are trying to go. As I have said, it is all in the execution at this point.

I have no investment position on any of the tech companies mentioned around here lately.

I have posted before that Sun has taken a couple of good steps lately, but need much more to rebound. I feel Sun will not see a stock rebound until it starts getting some favorable quarterlies. I may open up small long positions in Sun if I see some more positive steps.

Most of my other investment interest is in energy groups right now.

I bought SUNW on the 19th. I took a medium-size (for me) position because we all realize that it's highly speculative at best. I trade shares, not derivatives. I'm disgusted with a couple of the more pathetic PR's, the $299 desktops in particular, which is just another tic emanating from Scott's Microsoft mania. But I think they have a shot at profitability and an upward trend over the next 2 years from mid-to-large hardware and services. I do believe Itanic is definitively toast.

If they have another bad Q in January and it goes to $3.50 I will probably buy more.

Once again, I view this investment as better than a Vegas slot machine, but only a little. I would not recommend it to anyone as a serious play.
