What you describe is exactly what is happening in the productivity numbers, where the mid-level workers don't exist anymore (shipped to india) and all that is left is the management, people like me who get all the credit for huge man hours in offshore personnel.

But I wonder how that affects GDP because they should be looking at trade and consumers are not buying as much as they did in the 90s, domestically. Maybe purchases for business are way up? Sheesh if anybody wants yet more evidence that trickle down economics doesn't work, just look at the GDP vs. bankruptcy numbers.

But seriously I think the feds and the media know they have a numbers problem, because when the 7% GDP was announced, there were nonbelievers like me but in general there was a lot of flag waving by John Snow about job creation and the 04 "boom". Now, this time you don't hear much. This 8% number is just so out of line with reality it isn't getting as much play. The markets sure aren't impressed.
