I say no to both and we should start with tax incentives/breaks and involving the private sector in solving this problem. Any ideas?? Mike

I too have several young folks with young families in the same place yours are, mike. I don't think the Government should do anything, except keep taxes down by offering incentives and breaks. Problem is, the Dems in particular, want everything to go to the singles and families who are making under $50,000.

It certainly doesn't take a mental giant to figure out the reason ...votes.....

And honestly, many young folks are quite liberal, both socially and financially, and don't see it........yet.

Our two older ones are definitely seeing the light!!!

I also think the young folks with families, as a group, know how to scrimp in places, but have chosen not to, so have loaded up their credit cards.

i.e. How many do you know that really wanted Mom and Dad's "early marriage" furniture until they got on their feet financially??

Or would "make do" with a 25" TV rather than a 36" or better?

Or would be seen in an older used car that might not be their 'color and style'...so put themselves into more financial hardship by leasing one (forgetting to think if they would drive more than 12-15,000 per year, or taking a HUGE penalty) or buying the one they wanted, and spreading the payments out over 6 years????

Ours are finally seeing the sense of the book "The Millionaire Next Door." We gave it to them, and they've finally read it to humor us.......<g>
