You still don't get it.

Perot rose to prominence because of his image and not because of any plans he revealed.
Clinton also, did not reveal a lot about his positions, until the party platform was decided, and then attacked Bush on the economy - his achilles heel. Remember "It's the economy stupid?"

Arnold also got elected on his image, and not because he was a MACHO MAN, as you say, but rather because he represented change, by an outsider, who could knock heads and get the parties to agree on an action plan.

Elections in politics is about image first, or in marketing terms, branding name and recognition. Revealing plans and content is not an advantage, I would say rather, it is a disadvantage, unless somehow it supports the branding process. The more you know about a candidate the more human and vulnerable he appears.

Yes, we need someone intelligent in office to work on the world stage, someone who can understand and work towards solving problems and put together a strategy that best serves America's interests.
