Libertarians are of two minds on Nafta itself, but mainly of one mind on Free Trade, per se. National Security, particularly if cooperation and peace instead of war is the goal, should lie in a sort of "race to the bottom" which is not insane. The bottom is where the poorer among us need help. The Freedom to pay the cheapest price ensures that the middle class expands, leaves extra spending money in wallets to create more overall world-wide jobs/goods/charitable giving(same money purchases more goods), and when paid for imports ensures demand for domestic jobs/exports to match the incoming value received.

Don't be scared by tales of the impossible, such as "no jobs." If there were no jobs for Americans, imports would tend to cease. The implication goes hand in hand with everything coming to a halt, and is therefore preposterous. Foreigners simply will not give us valuable goods without demanding we work to create goods to pay them back. This is a fundamental truth of trade all can see.

Free Trade Works,

Dan B.
