Hi David,

Thanks for the link. If I'm in the area, I'll look them up. As you know, travel in and around Lake Tahoe during the winter months is highly dependent upon the weatherman's cooperation. The last few trips up there, we've been sort of snowed in for a day or two. While Lake Tahoe itself (and the Nevada side of the border) were relatively clear of snow, the California side was something else entirely.

A few years ago now, we met my sister and her husband at a ski lodge place in Truckee that they used to rent. We ate a leisurely dinner with them in Truckee. When we first entered the restaurant, the skies were clear, and it was quite cold with a blustery wind. When we left the restaurant (roughly 2 hours had passed), there was a foot of snow on the ground (not in any weather forecast I had heard that day), and it was snowing all get out. Huge, big flakes... We said our goodbyes and headed back to Reno, planning on using the Interstate. We barely made it up the on ramp (kept sliding back 10 feet for every 20 feet forward), and got in behind a snowplow and a cinder truck. They cleared the path over the pass, and once into Nevada we had a sleet/snow mixture the rest of the way. What was normally about an hour (plus) trip back to Reno turned into about a 4 hour adventure. Since then, we only rarely venture forth into California when staying in Lake Tahoe.
