The economy is picking up steam. The argument about wanting to devalue the dollar to offset the trade deficit is overplayed. A better solution is to put heavy pressure on the Chinese to float the yuan.

With a recovering stock market, capital gains tax revenues will accelerate in the next two years and will take a big chunk out of the budget deficit. The average portfolio has seen a healthy rebound this year and watch for consumer spending to exceed expectations this holiday season. Another major boost to the economy is that corporate spending will no longer be deferred as we enter another technology upgrade cycle over the next two years. There are plenty of indications that is beginning and we have already seen inventories starting to rise.

Dollar recovers. Watch and learn.
