You can change the starting year, BTW, to see that real personal consumption expenditures have risen every quarter since Bush took office. In fact, the last time it fell on a quarterly basis was 1991.

PS: In case you're looking for something to spin, it has often taken dips on a monthly basis, even during the bubble years. It's a volatile series, better considered on a quarterly basis if you're interested in identifying trends.
