I agree. It's never going to change though I'm afraid. My business used to supply the Norfolk Naval Shipyard with some stainless steel adjustable elbows. Perhaps 50 a year. About 5 years ago they sent this box of paperwork and engineering forms that I needed to fill out in order to continue to supply those elbows. All of this non destructive testing information, etc. Anyhow it would have cost me well over 10K to hire the folks needed to fill all of this out so that I could continue to sell them $1200 worth of these elbows per year. Needless to say I declined as I would have never made enough to cover the expense of complying. Purchasing man in Norfolk could not believe that I was unwilling to go through all of that and then stated, "all you need to do is add that cost into the price of your elbows so that you recover your money in the first year." That is how you end up with 500 dollar toilet seats IMO and I sure as hell wasn't going to add to that problem but I have little doubt some other company was more then willing to.
