You classify pigs and cows as sentient? By the definition of "Experiencing sensation or feeling.", they are so that's not a totally unreasonable assertion even if the common use of the word would include humans and just possibly the most advanced animals like cetaceans and not-human primates. Sometimes sentient is used as if it meant sapient but I suppose that is a misuse of the word as they don't have the same definition.

Do you consider humans to have a special status different from that of lower animals or do you consider any creature that can experience "sensation or feeling" to have similar rights to humans?

Also as I said before even if pigs or cows had roughly equal rights to humans the rights would still not be human rights. This is more an issue of semantics that substance but you keep saying it is a human rights issue. As for the question of do I have a right to eat a pig, I wouldn't specifically say that I have a right to do such as much as I would say that I have a general right to freedom and that eating a pig or a cow is not an immoral act, or an act that violates anyone's rights, or an act that should be illegal.
