Molly Ivins described the Bush scheme for Medicare in her great book "Shrub". She wrote (in 2000) about how Bush and Rove had schemed to create a version of Medicaid in Texas that was so complicated that about 2/3 of the people who would have been eligible for the program gave up in frustration trying to understand how to get through the red tape nightmare.

This is what Bush is doing here with Medicare. The bill is 681 pages of jibberish. Even Brian Lamb of C-SPAN, a completely sophisticated and experienced man, complained on Wednesday's Washington Journal that the bill is unreadable.

He didn't say that this was intentional. But it certainly is.

So, now you know the secrets of the temple. Bush is working his keister off trying to make Medicare fail. And he just won a huge victory over the senior citizens of this nation.
