If you can label a whole nation as evildoers, you can disregard the facts of any given situation and just hide behind your moralizing. "We're #1 and you suck! We're #1 and you suck! Ask anyone who was an academic in a communist regime about the pro-Party crap they had to crank out all the time. Total rubbish but it served the goal of the propagandists, relentlessly demonizing anyone outside the Party's control. So much of this circus is painfully familiar. Now we get a wing of the independent media that does the regime's bidding instead, but it's the same game.
