JUST THE FACTS, M'AM; instead of Bush's Lies, Deceit and Chicanery

Hi Lizzie,

Re: The 4% GDP we had in the Clinton years was much, much more robust than this 8%.

I completely agree. This is about as close to fraud as you can get while still remaining within the "letter of the law". The Bushies are getting entirely too clever with their deceits, and way too far from reality.

Re: I don't know what goes into GDP figures...

I'm no expert, but here is a terrific post that presented about a month ago the parses the components of GDP and concludes that the very elements that purportedly have given us such rosy results are in fact drains on the wealth of the nation for costs that benefit very few. Such as increased military spending and costs for the importation of petroleum. This work-up by an analyst named George Ure should be required reading for every corporate media whore who breathlessly tries to cheerlead for the totally deceptive shop that Don Evans runs at the Department of Commerce. When national expenses become "a good thing" for GDP, we know we have whackamole for economic statistics today.

Re: T.J. Rogers --

I'll have to revisit his political and economic pronouncements. A few months ago, when last I checked, he was still a troglodyte Repuglican. Maybe there is hope that he has a shred of honesty and decency about him, after all. :)

Cheerio!
