I agree with you in destroying Al Queda but as to whether the Iraqi war has helped or hurt we could write thousands of posts on either side.

Clearly, media and critics have an easy target every time a soldier is killed, an Iraqi protest is held, or a chopper is shot down. However, looking at the bigger picture, as I posted previously, the enormity of what has been accomplished vs. the losses is actually amazing in the history of warfare.

As to policy, I quite frankly can't opine whether it was the right war at the right time. I am starting to agree with those who claim that we should have waited, cleaned up Afghanistan, gone after Saudi Arabia (not by attacking but by pressure), etc.

I'm hoping that the upcoming debates will be more constructive in terms of positive solutions offered rather than just criticisms. It's easy to criticize and very difficult to come up with solutions. So far, I haven't been impressed with any of the major candidates' "plans" if you could even call them that. I am absolutely convinced that President Clinton would have done exactly the same thing if he had been Prez after 9/11 and would be lambasted by Republicans for doing so. Cynical - yes.

Sitting around and doing nothing is not a solution. Debating niceties in Parisian cafes will not deter terrorists.
