Excellent question.

The mainstream media doesn't appear willing to support this interpretation.

You would think the admininstration would, but if the anonymous leak is as far as they're willing to go it's hard to see how that could be for any other reason than maintaining deniability.

All of this leads us to ask several questions. Is the intelligence in the Feith memo inaccurate? If so, why would the Bush administration provide inaccurate intelligence to a Senate panel investigating the possible misuse of intelligence? If not, why is the Bush administration so reluctant to discuss it? ... Does the Bush administration agree, or doesn't it?
