I mean God forbid if the markets surprise on the upside I would not want to be prematurely short. And markets do surprise. I think the markets could well amble slightly upwards until a few months after the election. I still hear an incredible amount of this "I'm in it for the long term" crap at work.

I in no way am long any tech or similar crap

I agree that the first downdraft will be sudden but also somewhat unpredictable.

I think the rational time to short would be when the inevitable bounce back starts to fade (ie the shoulder)

This will leave plenty of money still to be made
