James, DUH!!! If you love God, it is a no brainer that you will want to do, to the best of your ability, what you believe is living as God would have you do. Sometimes, you should try to apply some logic, and common sense, to the practice of living under the auspices of God. Logic tells you, or anyone else, that in order to love God, the sensible thing to do is live as He would want you to live. Nobody, and I mean not a single individual on the face of the Earth, needs the bible to understand that. The fact that you seem to need the bible to love God, is a bit disconcerting. Evidently, you need the words of other humans to have, even a hint, of what you should do to worship God. That doesn't speak well of your ability to know, and love God, without the help of other flawed human beings, and you should remember that all human beings are flawed in one way, or another, and cannot be perfect in God's eyes, much less the eyes of other people. I know my limitations in that respect, and the un-Godly things I have done in the past. It is too bad that people, like brian, do not understand that they are not perfect in anyone's eyes, much less God's. We all are sinners, and can only be redeemed by the life, death, and resurrection, of Jesus. Any history concerning the life, and deeds, of Jesus makes that clear without the, absolute, words of the bible. There are many such histories that have been written over the centuries.
