He conceded that the evidence showed that it did not achieve the goals of its proponents, i.e. criminals got guns anyway, violent crime rates go down in "must issue" states, violent crime rates go up when guns are banned (England, Australia are examples) etc. but he supported it anyway because he was an "idealist". I did manage to avoid ridiculing him as he is part of the family but it was very hard to avoid laughing at him. ggg
