If you're part Jewish, what's wrong with saying it? That's not "asserting" anything it's just statng a fact. Half the Bush foreign relations team is Jewish too. Big deal. Who cares? Apparently Kerry and Clark are both part Jewish, though Kerry isn't 100% sure, just 90% sure. Kerry and Clark are both practicing Christians though and have been all their lives. Dean however brought his kids up jewish which is a little unusual up in Vermont. Not sure how that will play with the conservative Christian types. But Dean wont win their votes anyway so who cares I guess.
