That's the Washington power-elite's mind-set - keep the facade going, and figure you'll stay protected.

CNN's John King has said the conversation even among the WH press corps is one of amazement that the Bush group is able to manipulate the public so completely.

Once Dean's story gets traction it'll provide media cover for more porcupines who decide to quit romancing the skunks.
