I'm not sure I agree. Sometimes I think the Bush 2 motivation is all about his father, that his father's term was the defining moment of his life. The two things that threaten his fathers legacy are that he failed to take out SH, and that he failed to get reelected.

Now, Bush will do anything to accomplish those two goals, regardless of the consequences.

Frankly, to me it's the only way to explain Iraq (and I've struggled to find a real justification). No normal person, without a chip on their shoulder, would have taken this route. Unless it's all about the oil, which is certainly not out of the question for the oil administration.
