They knew this route had been chosen by our military and they knew when and where to set up. What they didn't know was that they would be taking so many casualties. Not a well thought out plan, but they learned a lesson.

An Iraqi Currency Exchange (ICE) party with "a very significant amount" of new, non-Saddam Iraqi dinar notes was being escorted by a U.S. military unit of 100, with M1A1 tanks and Bradley armored vehicles. Apache attack helicopters were also called.

"It was a well-organized and complex ambush, but they obviously picked the wrong convoy to attack. They could not have known," the source told Fox News.

I know this is a he said, he said scenario but I heard a report on FOX that when discussing the ambush in Iraq yesterday Donald Rumsfeld said something to the effect that better intelligence in Iraq is leading to better security. There is something to be said for the force employed in the defense of that convoy yesterday. What did the US contingent know before they started out on that trip?
