LA Times opinion ran an article agreeing with me.
They predict if no Dem candidate can get over 35%
of the vote (which is increasingly likely now) then
it will be a brokered convention and Al Gore could
step in as the deserving compromise candidate. The writer
talked about a scenario where Dean has 30%, Kerry and the other top guys 15-20% and no one wins. The non-dean candidates together would have enugh delegates to nominate, but who would they pick? Draw straws? That's where Gore might come in.

The article stated that if Deanies threatened to rebel Gore
would make Dean his VP, but otherwise I'd think he'd rather have Clark.

However, no one has voted yet and polls are often wildly inaccurate months before the primaries.

BTW: All this was just my theory but good to see some expert out there agrees. I'm sure it's entered Al Gore's mind.
