well, they're obviously enemy combatants. The question is, are they illegal combatants like Al Qaeda, or legal combatants like the Iraqi army? Since they are a) in uniform, b) on a field of war, imo the evidence leans towards legal combatants, esp. if they are attacking soldiers. When they are blowing up the Red Cross, it gets murkier.
