Revelation was written before 70 A.D. and the destruction of Israel. Only a few years before - during the reign of Nero. Revelation 17:10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. "and one is" = Nero "a short space" = Galba 1. Julius Caesar 49-44 B.C. 2. Augustus Caesar 31 B.C. - 14 A.D. 3. Tiberius 14-37 A.D. 4. Gaius (also called Caligula) 37-41 A.D. 5. Cladius 41-54 A.D. Those five were gone (fallen) when Revelation was written. 6. Nero 54-68 A.D. (the one who was alive when John wrote) 7 Galba 68-69 A.D. (reigned less than a full year = short space) Those are the 7 kings mentioned by John 3 more Caesars (kings) came before the wrath was poured out. 8. Otho 69 A.D. 9. Vitellius 69 A.D. 7. Vespasian 69-79 A.D. (this one was ruling when the temple and Jerusalem was destroyed)
