No JF, the state does not take custody. In a Communist state such as China, the state has responsibility of feeding its people, providing them with shelter, clothing, education (the Communist version). But the fact of the matter is that since they have to feed, I can in some way concede that they can dictate to couples when to have children, when not to have and when to abort. But the anti-choicers in the US think they are doing God a favor when they storm abortion clinics etc. every woman has the God given virtue of carrying the fetus and bears responsibility to her God. Let us leave her to decide that. What is next, the women cannot smoke, drink, have illegal drugs etc. Don't those actions affect the development of the child? So why not enslave them once they start carrying the fetus. Where does it end?
