Hi Hawkmoon; Re: "Show me the pictures of Kurds and Shiites celebrating the attacks upon Coalition forces."

(a) If this really were true, then why don't we leave and let the Kurds and Shiites fight the Sunnis?

(b) The Shiites have already slaughtered plenty of our forces. It's not always easy to figure out who the perpetrator was, but most of the British casualties in south Iraq have probably been killed by Shiites. For example:

British hunt for killers of 6 soldiers
...
But British troops stayed out of sight in this southern Shiite town, where residents are angry over the deaths of four Iraqis, allegedly at the hands of British soldiers.
...
Unlike recent attacks on U.S. forces near Baghdad - blamed on remnants of Saddam's regime or the ousted dictator's Sunni followers - the violence here came from Shiites enraged over the death of their neighbours and over weapons searches in homes with women.

Re: "Personally, I'm still astounded that US forces and Iraqi police don't immediately round up and detain anyone who displays support for Saddam's regime or the remnants of their fedeyeen and special republican guard."

That worked for Hitler, but we won't build jails big enough to house that many people, and we don't have the heart to just kill them.

Re: "But then again, we have to remember that most of these kids are posing for the media photographers, some of who are probably prompting the kids to act in a certain manner."

This is a risible attempt to blame the messenger. Some of the reports of Iraqi celebrations are from the military itself.

Re: "And note his post on November 2nd where he asserts that "Iraqis are FLOWING in with information" on these resistance groups."

Yes, that must be why there were so few of our soldiers killed in November, the quietest month of the war so far.

The problem with your opinions is that they are just opinions. They are trumped by the facts, and it is an elementary fact that the guerilla war in Iraq is heating up, not cooling down. This is compatible with the expectation that Iraq would be worse than Vietnam, rather than a liberation like Kuwait or Afghanistan or a bloodless occupation like Japan or Germany.
