As always Raymond you make some compelling points. I don't like the open ended contract thing with Haliburton and Bechtell. The conflicts of interest and the big money contracts are definitely troublesome.

As for the proposed embeds, I think it would have to be done very carefully to make sure that the folks selected for that duty were very trustworthy. Maybe that is impossible to do.

Chalabi is a crook. Can't believe that he had the Bush adminstrations ear. More than that I believe that Chalabi probably was saying what the Bushies wanted to hear, so they elevated his message.

My only regret is that we ever opened up this can of worms. I'm not sure we can get the lid back on the can. But I would hope for a new government, not the former US puppet Saddam, but a representative government of the people of Iraq would be nice. According to several polls of the Iraqi people from different sources that I have seen, the Iraqi people want the US out soon, but not so soon that more chaos comes down. A majority does not want to see Saddam return. These polls were mainly conducted in Baghdad.

But all that said, maybe the best way is to pull out, and then let what ever happens happen. Maybe this way the right people will come into power. will they be "Jeffersons" or "Hancocks"? One has to wonder.
