Phil > America's Future: Endless Enemies, Endless Debt.

Yes, excellent piece. Thanks for the compliment but I didn't write it ;)

Interesting how more and more people are waking up to the reality of the situation and, indeed, the predicament in which the ordinary Americans find themselves.

> Just as you once stated, seeing the excesses of the rich ruling classes, one can't help but become a little more socialistic in one's outlook. Or is it cynicism derived from years of observation?

I needn't tell you that I'm not a communist, hardly a socialist and certainly not a priest but I can't stand crooks --- and the US Establishment has become just that --- a bunch of crooks. I don't think the solution is socialism, just fair play and decency. Or is that too much to ask for these days?

> In politics they say the voter is always right, the people have spoken.

Another bit of BS --- We the People. That's a real joke. Unfortunately, what is the alternative? To go along with it? That's what they want. I do believe, however, that the first step towards wherever is to wake up to the truth, imperfect as it is, and the second is to be angry. To realize what these people have taken from one or are trying to take.

For years I have been angry with the SA government, firstly because of the apartheid policy of the previous Nationalist government which I believed was completely wrong, and now, because the present ANC government is holding me responsible for that policy, because I am white, and penalizing my children for it. Still, I will not leave the country, as many have done, because I believe that this country, for better or worse, is my birth right. Maybe I'm stupid. Time will tell.
