Now you are evolving into something that comes close to the rationale and I can't argue with that.

My own feeling is that big government is, ipso facto, incompetent, "cover your ass", "keep my job" mentality. In the intelligence field, there are thousands of threats every day that are evaluated. The various intelligence agencies have been notoroious at keepiing their fiefdoms separate, not sharing information, again, IMO, to keep their budgets sacred.

Even if this were not the case, would that guarantee no 9/11? Of course not. It only takes 1 success out of hundreds of thousands of threats over years.

Incompetence yes - sinister plot no way. Graham who was on the committee and is a very political animal running for President has not even hinted at any involvement other than the terrorists. He has hinted at incompetence and a cover-up involving Saudi Arabia.

I'd like to see the whole truth come out. That process is hurt by whacko posting that Bush did 9/11 or that he even wanted it to happen.

Re: I personally think they expected a more traditional hijacking with demands for the release of Sheik Omar Abel-Rahman and several days worth of TV coverage before killing all the passengers (which would have then been spun as the Next Pearl Harbor). Instead they got 9/11.

The number of people who have to be "in on it" is pretty much limited to Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Condoleeza Rice. Bush was clueless and told to think hard about stem cells, that kept his televised response more real, while Cheney and the other planners hid in the bunker.

BRILLIANT!! However... are you sure topsiders Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice were in the know all along??? I don't think so... I think they got all hijacked as well, so to speak. I believe the whole mess resulted mainly from an intelligence scheme, that is, involving CIA/Mossad/FSB operatives --just ask convicted FBI agent R. Hansen.... Moreover, you didn't factor in the assassination of Ahmad Shah Massoud on Sept 9th, 2001... and what of the two "dress rehearsals" only months before? I mean, the hijacking of an Ariana flight (Kabul-Moscow-London) and of a Turkish one (Ankara-Ryadh)?? (*)

Your conspiracy theory is actually the CIA's pet theory to entertain hard-nosed skeptics... Indeed, you astutely leave FOREIGN connections out of the picture --you squeeze the whole 911 plot into a neatly domestic box of evildoers... The whole boodle was masterminded by Americans only. How convenient it is, eh? I mean, think of all the diplomatic troubles you would get into if some "loose ends" led your crack investigators into a foreign intelligence service!
