Eisenhower warned us about Dick Cheney types taking over. If oil and weapons businesses ever get together and take power, they could be unstoppable. That has happened. And look at what we have now, a big expensive war for no clear reason. Cheney types are making millions. Everyone else pays and suffers.

Actually, I think he was warning us about the military buildup proposed by the Kennedy Administration. My guess, is that he felt that his own build up plans were adequate.
