Well...with all respect--rights do not adhere to rocks or rivers. If you think that humans have an obligation to carefully treat the environment....fine. "It really is beside the point that the animal suffers or dies" Then you are not talking about animal rights. That is the last thing you are talking about. You are talking about human "obligations" based upon some mystical mind-set which places humans at some pinacle of universal value. Don't confuse the "rights" of a pot roast with your supposed obligation to kill and eat the quiet cow without "disregard".
