The axis started it the allies finished it. A wonderfully naive version of history, if I do say. One could just as easily argue that idiotically stupid and onerous terms for reparations imposed on Germany by Britain at the Versailles Peace Treaty in 1919 caused massive hyper-inflation, national humiliation and seething resentments in the German people which was the proximate cause of the growth of malignant hypernationalism. One could, in fact argue that the shin bone is connected to the knee bone, is connected to the hip bone, etc......
