<you are going to be very hard pressed to come up with evidence> Actually Nadine, before invading and conducting an occupation you would normally expect evidence to be provided to make the case -- and it was shocking to see how far the Bush Administration went to make it appear there was evidence when there was in fact none. My views are completely consistent with the evidence -- up to and including favoring a "transfer of power" that delivers Iraq to Chalabi rather than impose the rigors of free elections which would lead to loss of American control and loss of Iraqi exile control of Iraq in a heartbeat. Democracy? Good grief. WMD? Good grief. Terrorist threat? Good grief. Opportunistic political power play? You got it. As for Bush being his own man -- I have no idea. But I have seen him speak often enough to question whether or not he has the capacity to make effective foreign policy decisions in complex situations, or whether he is easily led by people who play to his "gut feel" approach.
