Right-wing silencing of the media is largely to blame for the press not delving into the phony energy crisis. It is also a complicated scheme, hard to understand, and much of the evidence wa destroyed or covered up. Also the fact that Bush used 9-11 and Iraq to pretty much sweep smaller issues out of the public view for two whole years. By the time both wars were "done' the phony energy crisis was a faint memory. Ed Gillespie also used Enron money to wage a huge TV campaign to blame it all on Grey Davis. Because the Dems did not control congress they couldn't grab enough attention to fight back against all those Enron/GOP millions. Gillespie did such a good job of lying to the public and covering up Bushie crimes he got promoted to head of the RNC.
