I would have to hope that Barrick has surreptitiously bought some call options. They have done similar ploys in the past. The best assumption is that Barrick is not stupid.

Speaking of stupid I wonder K&K otherwise know as nit and wit (Kudlow and Kramer*) are saying about shorting gold now.

*poetic license taking for the sake of visual alliteration
